The JB journeys: Public toilets

Rest stop toilets. The bane of outstation travel.

The floors are never dry. The bins often overflowing with garbage. There is even no water at some of these toilets to flush with once you’re done relieving yourself. Often there are flies around.

It’s disgusting… and utterly disappointing, the state that these public amenities are in.

I may not have travelled overseas much compared to others, but I’ve certainly been around enough to know that keeping public toilets dry and clean is definitely a possibility.

So why can’t we do this, Malaysia? It does not require much, if any, technology.  Only a sense of pride for neatness and a high standard for cleanliness.

Foreigners from developed nations visiting such public toilets would be appalled. But rightly so.
